This month’s essays are titled Japanese & Yin-Yang. I can’t believe it’s already December, wow. Next month will be my annual recap that gets sent out to my friends and family, and I’ll be sure to share it here as well! 📝

Apple’s System Status page is slowly becoming multicolored.
Is anybody having any luck with Big Sur? It seems like everyone I talk to is having their whole system throw a fit, regardless of if they’re trying to update.
Photos updated! 7 new golden hour photos from my recent trip to Charleston, WV.
ICYMI, my latest essay pair: SEquel & Vote!
So far, learning Japanese has been thoroughly rewarding, but I know that’s about to wear off and it will become a grind. As such, I’m happy to be financially invested in getting over the hump and reaching a point at which I can begin to read Japanese texts and educate myself.
My pandemic hobby, if you will, has been attempting to learn Japanese. After around 6 months of practice, I’m thrilled to say I’m now officially monetarily invested in learning the language.
For those following my 2nd Generation iPhone SE saga, one of this month’s essays is titled “SEquel” and is my return to the points I made upon taking ownership of the SE five months ago.
tl;dr: It’s still a stellar device, you should totally get one.
All of that said, hello Micro.blog! What did I miss last month?
This past month, I revamped the memberships I offer, “redesigned” my entire site (quotes because customizing a Squarespace template doesn’t feel quite like designing), and began selling photo prints. I wrote about the month too! 📝
Next to-do: Start sharing to Micro.blog again
Yesterday was the first day of early voting in North Carolina and I learned the true value of getting in early. I managed to register and cast my vote downtown, all in under 30 minutes. No line, no waiting whatsoever. I’m happy to have voting taken care of!
I’ve been absolutely blown away by my 2nd Generation iPhone SE. I began watching the keynote today for fun knowing I had a phone that was absolutely perfect for me already. But, oh my, that iPhone 12 mini in Pacific Blue has me thinking dangerous thoughts.
My latest post, U-Haul & Leica Q is up for all to enjoy! 📝
My move to Charlotte is nearly complete, with one last drive awaiting me tomorrow. I’m excited to be able to think about literally anything else again.
Ah, hello micro.blog! The stressful part of my move is officially over and ~95% of my belongings are now in Charlotte. Now I can relax a little bit as all I really have to do is give my Ohio home a good scrubbing before turning in my keys and saying goodbye.
This morning I decided to opt out of smartphones by ordering a Mudita Pure. I’ll keep my iPhone SE in a drawer for use during international travel and/or in case I wind up hating not having a smartphone. But I’m excited for the change.
I don’t know if I’ve ever known stress like that which I put on myself while furniture shopping.
Today’s excellent discovery: Poolside FM now has a Mac app.
The tale of my first of three adventures down to Charlotte, NC has been penned and published. This one is written as a love letter — complete with haiku — both to a city and to the person I’m fortunate to inhabit it with.
Subscription or no subscription? That is not the question.
Quite a long read but well worth it, especially if you are or are thinking about offering a subscription of your own. I’ve managed to trim my subscriptions down to only independent artists and iCloud.
RAW Power is an impressive app — especially on iPad — but it’s pricey, clunky, and glitchy. It integrates with Photos fine but is missing a ton of really basic functionality. For RAW processing, it’s great. But I have to finish the job in Pixelmator or Affinity Photo every time.
Update on my search for the best editing tool to use with Photos: By far, Pixelmator Photo on iPad and Pixelmator Pro on Mac. Such a magnificently streamlined, capable piece of software that integrates with Photos seamlessly on both platforms.

Finally edited and uploaded photos from move 1/3 to Charlotte. Move 2/3 is still a few weeks away.
I was put into a frenzy today and started aggressively packing things even though my final move is still 6 weeks away. I suppose it’s never too early to start and I’m sure I’ll eventually find myself wishing I started earlier.
Today I was notified by my company that I have been granted relocation to Charlotte. One of the most relieving emails I’ve ever received. I’ll be a full time North Carolina resident beginning October 1!

I can think of no better place to fly on National Aviation Day than the world’s busiest airport. ✈️
